It's the time of the year again where in some countries, people are doing their seasonal shopping, parties, caroling etc ... does the holiday season makes you feel and act differently?
Do you feel sentimental all over again at the sight, smell or hearing a jingle? How would you rate this coming Christmas? 1 as feeling real low, 5 as in neutral and 10 as in WOW.
This Christmas is a 7 for me - I'm in a new transition in life, so there are some uncertainty and some exitment also and perhaps a new baby on the way ... yahoooooo.
What about you?

I think it would be an 8 for me. But I do seem to be more stressed this time of year. I had to buy extra gifts at the last minute. Money is already tight so it has put a strain on me. If I had known I had to buy the gifts about a month ago, it wouldn't have been as stressful.

I guess I would have to say I am at at 2 or 3. Christmas traditions are changing in our family. We have been living away from our parents, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles for the last 8 years. The older two kids are 20 and 19 so they are not into hanging around the house and hanging stockings. My daughter wants to have us over and her roommates parents over for Christmas eve. Christmas Day was a day we all spent together. My youngest is spending it with her grandmother about 2 hours away. She doesn't live with me anyway. New Years Eve we used to have a party for the kids. No booze, just party favors, fake champange and lots of junk food. I do love watching A christmas carol and Its a wonderful life.

This Christmas is 9 for me, for various reasons. If I weren't so sick right now, it'd be a 10!

For me this Christmas is 6 therefore today, the people see the Christmas as a time to gain gifts, and alone! Here in Rio De Janeiro, you almost she does not see more ornaments of Christmas, tree of Christmas in the houses. The things had moved very, but still you exist the spirit of the Christmas, however it is dying...

I have many mixed feelings about Christmas. Its usually very positive up until the day arrives. With the christmas carrols and the pretty shop windows you cannot help but feel more excited and uplifted. But, on the day of Christmas I usuualy feel slightly sad, because I wont be sharing it with family members that have passed away, on those days i always think about them and yearn for them. So its a mixture of emotions, and as for the last few years I just wished that the whole x-mas hype would pass quickly, so that we can continue with life as normal.

This time of year used to get on my nerves alot more than it does now. When I was working in schools fulltime I would constantly have to correct other teachers about their only addressing Christmas as THE holiday at this time of year. Now that I am not in schools so much it is easier.
I am not one to be very sentimental which probably makes me unusual as far as women go, my husband remembers our anniversary, I never do. I enjoy the fact that my sons are grown and like the holidays where my husband and I can just sit around the shanty and make rude comments to the tv shows. LOL!
I have step grands but all of them live a good distance away so we get the phone calls and then that's it. We send gift certificates in the summer to avoid reinforcing the holiday madness...let their parents do that for them, we like to be the balance to all of that.
I think the thing I love most about these holidays is we are at the winter solstice and the days will be getting longer after this...the birth of the sun god and all. We teach the grands about that aspect of the season, along with the parents approval of course, so they might grow to be more tolerant than most are these days.

Christmas is a very special event for me for various reasons. Being a christian, it is a revelation of Christ in my life. The next most important is that it is my wife's birthday. Thirdly, by christmas, it is time to take audit of my life this year and prepare myself for the next year.
