I first read it in my teens. It was the longest novel I've ever read at that time yet I couldn't put it down till I finished it. School work and all other things were put aside until I read the last page. It's a pity though that the ending wasn't the happily ever after.

I like this book. Although it has over 1000 pages, it`s a fairly easy read!
This is the story of Scarlett O`Hara, a Southern belle. When the Civil War breaks out, her entire life changes, and her world is turned upside down. This Southern belle, however, is definitely a survivor!
I liked this book, probably because I heartily enjoyed hating Scarlett O`Hara. I didn`t like her at all, but she makes for a great read! She was amazing, though, in the way she just hangs on to life and grabs it with both hands. The author (Margaret Mitchel) did a really fantastic job on that.
Other than Mammy, (Scarlett`s nurse) my absolute favorite character was Rhett Butler, a mysterious man from Charleston with a dark past, and a cynical sense of humor. He does have a soft side, though, as you will find if you read the book. The movie is also great, I just loved it!!!

I have read this novel. I read it when I was at college and love it very much. I have also watched this movie, which moves me a lot with its plot.
