I'll start out. We'll have been married 30 years in April. Since we live in a society where divorce is prevalent, I'm wondering how many people have made the achievement of a lasting marriage.

It sounds like you have a wonderful start. Putting the Lord in the center of your relationship always helps! And then you have those beautiful little children. Merry Christmas to all of you.

Oh, wow, you've been married a long time! I'm sure it hasn't been easy sometimes, but aren't you glad you stuck with it. I'd hate to be growing old all alone.

I was married 24 years the first time and I have been married 14 years so far, this time. Congratulations on your thirty year mark, that is quite an achievement these days.

Well, you've done pretty well considering most people today, too. Whatever happened to break up your marriage after 24 years? I've been with my husband so long that I'd hate to ever think of breaking in a new one.

Wow, that is AWESOME.....That is so wonderful. I've only been with my guy for 7 yrs, but eventually we will get married. He is someone I will be with always....I thought that of my ex at one point because we had two boys together, but he wasn't the family man I thought he could be and I had to end it, so I've been with my boyfriend for 7 yrs and counting, we bought a home together, so we are taking that step gradually.

Good for you for realizing that and sticking with it. Too many people think a marriage should all be ups and decamp when times get a little rough. Thanks for answering.

It happens. Making him laugh is a good way to help settle things between you. Thanks for responding.

A lasting marriage is quite an accomplishment in this society, It didn't work out that way for me,but I have great admiration for couples who are able to stay together,it takes a lot of work and a lot of love to do. Congratulations

My first marraige lasted 10 years. 8 years too long really. It was not a good situation. I have only been remarried 1.5 years and this one will last a lifetime - how long is that? I'm going to have to be pretty darned old to get to the 50 year mark....

Mine crashed and burned at 3 years, with the divorce finally happening 11 years later. Although in retrospect, knowing what I learned about him during the divorce, I think our marriage was a sham from day one.

I have been married for 13 years now. We have 4 children ranging from the age of nearly 2 and up to 11 years old. We have lost a couple of children but we supported each other during those hard times and have managed to get through it. I think this has helped our relationship get stronger.

My dear wife and I will be celebrating our 48th anniversary this year. All my friends have been married about this length of time and I am wondering if this is a thing that stands out from the present day marriages. I do not for one moment suggest that we are more moral but is it an age thing which comes from the 50's. Mind you the 60's brought the 'Make Love not War' era.
