Do you bring your sick child to doctor or paediatrician?

I always try my luck by bringing my kids to doctor(GP)when they are sick. There are 3 clinics nearby. However, the medicines prescribed by any 3 are seldom effective. Finally I have to fall back on paediatrician. Do you bring your sick child to doctor or paediatrician? Why?

My son is still 11 mnths, so I do take him to paediatrician...
