I have year round allergies. Yes I was the kid in class sneezing and blowing my nose. Now Im the person running through the store trying to find a napkin or tissue. Getting ugly looks when I just have to blow my nose or telling people Im sick and dont want to go out. My favorite, Being treated like a drug dealer at the pharmacy counter. Please tell me any funny or thought provoking experinces.

You are not alone. I have allergies 24/7 I swear. None of the perscription ones work for me so I have to get the over the counter ones and some of those work, some don't. Most of the time I'm just miserable. I have peopel recommend this medicine or this one and it's like "I've tried it, doesn't help." The best one I found is Comtrex Allergy/Sinus but it's almost impossible to find. It worked great and didn't make me over tired like some do. I know when you keep telling people you feel miserable and don't want to do something others think you are using it as an excuse. I wish. I'd tell them if I didn't want to go it would be less bothersome then the allergies.

Have you seen an allergist? I used to go when I had insurance. He would give me shots. OH MY GOD! Its was like I have never felt good in my life until now. That small amount of pressure you never really notice until its gone. I felt good. I was no longer tired. My voice sounded great. My throat was clear. I had energy I had never had before. No longer did I have sinus infections. My energy was not zapped by 8pm. I lost my job and so went to insurance. Im counting the days till I can go back.

I've got year round allergies as well. It's worst from spring through fall, but not as bad in the winter. The only medication that has ever really seemed to help me much is Benedryl, and I rarely ever take that because it makes me too sleepy to function. My allergies have caused me to get chronic sinus infections which have gotten worse in the past year. I recently went to an ENT and he did a sinus ct scan on me and gave me allergy testing. The allergy testing didn't work for some reason. I tested negative for everything! The doctor didn't understand it. He said he would've assumed that I have non allergic rhinitis, except that the itchy eyes, throat, and pallet don't really fit that diagnosis. I read up on allergy testing and it's not as accurate as doctors would have you believe. It's very common for people to get false-negative, and false-positive results. My own mother told me that she tested positive for many things that she wasn't allergic to. The ct scan showed that I have a deviated septum, some polyps, and something called paradoxical turbinates. My ENT wants me to get surgery to correct all that but I'm too nervous about it. I'm currently trying nasal irrigation to see if it helps enough to avoid surgery. So far it's helped with my congestion, but really hasn't done anything for the sneezing.

I have year round allergies as well. Zyrtec works great when it gets really heavy for me, but I have not needed it in awhile. Allergies are never fun.
