Why is it wrong for homosexual couples to get married from the LEGAL standpoint? Leaving religion aside, this about LEGAL reasons why a couple should/shouldn't be married. If marriage is about the commitment of one person to another through love and marriage is an expression of that love, Why is wrong? (again LEGAL NON RELIGIOUS REASONS ONLY PLEASE)

It is going to be difficult to seperate the religious reasons from this because marriage was created through religion. As far as legally goes that's after the fact when all you're concerned about is who gets what when it's over. I don't feel that gay marriages are wrong. If that is what a couple wants. I just don't see why a couple that are obviously out of agreement with religious beliefs would want to participate in a religious ceremony. MAybe there should be other ceremonies that are legally binding but don't have church, god or religion involved.

I agree with ya that it will be hard to separtate. However, in different times, it was not for religion that people married, they married for power, $, political position- ie wars, ect. Religion was not apart of those unions. Take the vikings for example, or land owners of other centuries, these were power play marriages.
