Incest does not create deformed or retarded children!

Well, I don't know where you are from, but no matter how pretty you try to paint the picture it is still ugly, No matter what century you are in it is just unnatural. And yes, it does cause birth defects, if you would do your research. Regardless of the birth defects, why would you want to sleep with a family member? It is just nasty no matter how you look at it and no matter what you say, you will never make me believe it is right. I would rather live under a rock than live in a house full of such crap.

not to be rude or anything but i'd rather live under a rock than in a incest filled house. And it does cause some forms of mental retardedness some not all clearly seen and may cause deforms to no i havent experienced it, but have seen it in another family. they all had problems mental and health problems.

I have a simple question for the person who started this topic: Why would you or anyone else WANT to have that sort of a relationship with a family member? regardless if the child would be deformed or not, it just doesnt seem right...

As I understand it, our DNA comes from both parents and each variable along the way comes from one or other of our parents. If both parents have DNA 'switches' for a specific condition, let's say heart disease then the child will definitely be prone to heart disease. This applies to a whole list of genetic defects. The way that we are able to 'escape' genetic problems from our families is to have parents with totally different DNA strings, that way we are less likely to develop weaknesses specific to our families. I believe that learning about DNA comes from pure research - it's not a moral judgment. It is also common knowledge amongst dog breeders who are aware that mongrel dogs are in the main healthier than pure-breds, and good breeders will use stud animals from outside rather than their own animals for breeding. For the rest of the 'question' (was there a question??) I don't have any books up my butt, that would make the research so much more difficult... Having read the Bible, I can't actually recall where incest is actually mooted as a good idea - can you? and I bought a house and live in it, so obviously the comments weren't addressed at me. One thing I noticed, if incest is such a hip modern 21st century kind of lifestyle only for those who live in houses rather than under rocks, why would it be mentioned in a book written thousands of years ago? In conclusion then, if you think that 21st Century living requires the modern man to be open to the idea of incest, you are welcome to the 21st Century....I'll just pass it by thanks all the same.

I agree with you there,not everyone that commits incest and has a child from it has a child that is retarded. People need to start doing a little more research before they start writing about things.

Stastically, (sp) incest does create deformed and retarded children. Just because there was incident in the bible it wasn't accepted by God. The bible is there to assist us in living are everyday lifes.

You tell US to do research, but then you don't give citations to whatever scientific study you got your information from. How come? Yes, it may well be true that the children of incestuous unions have no greater incidence of mental retardation or deformity than the population as a whole (though I would question whether the sample size of incest-conceived childen is large enough to draw any meaningful conclusions). But it is common sense that if you are a carrier of a genetic disorder, the chances of your relative also being a carrier are substantially greater than they would be with a random stranger, and therefore the chances of you producing a child with that disorder are also greater. This is basic heredity. Also, generations of inbreeding increase the chances of dangerous mutations appearing due to insufficient genetic diversity. This is also basic. And yeah, the Bible has incest in it. It also says that every time you menstruate you should kill a pigeon, and that's not a great idea either.

u professing incest? What do u think the world would be if fathers were laying daughters, brothers sisters, sons mothers!! Incest definitely makes us more prone for certain diseases. There is a group of diseases that we call autosomal recessive diseases. Which are more common in incest kids! And they do include some form of mental retardation as well.

Ignorant people? well lets see incest may or may not create deformed or retarded children but I am not ignorant enough to sleep with my brother to see what happens, if nothing else, kids brought into the world thru incest could definitely be confused, when their father is their uncle, or their mother is their aunt, or their sister is their mother, etc.... and besides that its just plain gross....
