TV Networks need to lose the "Fall Finale" idea

All the TV networks seem to have adopted the "brilliant" idea of responding to viewers complaints on repeats, by splitting the season in half.
I think Lost on ABC was the first show to start this when viewers complained last season that there were too many repeats being showing. So someone came up with the idea to show a month and a half of episodes, stop for a month and a half, and then continue.
Now, all the networks have picked up on this trend. Jericho on CBS was another favorite of mine, and a new show this season, that went the fall finale route.
What does everyone else think? Is this a good idea?

Definitely NOT a good idea! I think it's stupid and it REALLY annoys me! But then again, I don't know what's worse. This whole idea or showing new episodes for about a month and a half and then showing repeats for about a month and a half like they've been doing with Grey's Anatomy.

This drives me nuts! I don't like how some of the seasons are now split in half and it makes me lose my interest with the waiting period

Well I'm french and I complain all the time because we always have to wait at least 6 months to see americans tv shows... but when I read this it makes me realize that I like it better this way. We have to be more patient to see a new season, but at least it's never split in two parts, and for shows like Lost, 24, prison break we always have 2 episodes in a week and without commercials (or just between 2 episodes)... So if this idea of splitting a season in half comes to france,,, I'll be very disappointed! :)

Repeats on TV episodes is annoying to those who spends too much on TV; but others who missed on some episodes would want repeats.
Since there were complaints and the respond was copied, It may be a good idea. I think as a viewer this is giving you a chance to go watch some varieties on the times where they have the breaks. After all since you mentioned it is a brilliant idea of responding to complaints on TV episode repeats, having a month break before continuing is indeed brilliant. You will have a time to watch baseball, news and other programs you might not be checking on before. Have a life, perhaps, get off the TV and do some stretching, go to the gym, strall with some friends, work some more. spend more time on mylot, you are brilliant.

All shows seem to be doing this now a days. One of my fav shows prison break's fall final was in the end of november, but ineatd of coming back in march they changed it to jan 22. I don't like the breaks either, but if they are going to being doing a break, maybe they should shorten it to 1-2 months max.

In Ireland we've to wait a few months to see American shows but at least we get them before the UK who have another while to hold on. And they show the episodes continuously here too. But I tend to watch some shows on youtube or download them instead of waiting, and i can watch them all together!
I don't like the idea of splitting the season in half, it would just annoy me..:(

I would actually rather have it all at once. If the show is as good as it's suppose to be, then people will be upset and mad if they have to wait that long in suspense until they're ready to air it again. I think that is stupid, in my opinion. Why not just make the season longer?

they are going to do any type of break, maybe break from thanksgiving to New Year's. That's somewhat understandable with the holidays.

I think it is a good idea for the television station not to repeat often what they have shown already and for us to enjoy more their episodes for it is always new and when it will repeat it is not fresh on our mind.

I think that can indeed be a problem. Maybe try doing a month's worth of shows and then two weeks of reruns, then the same cyle would be better.

It is quite annoying isn't it? Seems like all there is on tv all the time is repeats now. It used to be you only had them once a year. Now it seems like there repeats all the time, I lose interest and before I know it I'm hooked on a show on another channel and forgot all about the other show.
