What are you opinions on difference of age?

I wanted to know what other people think about dating outside of your age range. Like what do you think about older woman/younger guy, older man/younger woman. Why is it more people accept older men and younger women then vice versa? Does age really matter if you feel a certain way towards someone? I ask this because i'm currently dating an older woman and I wanted to know what people think about these kinds of situations.
