I live in Berkeley California near San Francisco, this is the second quake in 2 days, it hit hard this time, it felt like a car hit my apartment building.. yesterday i was downtown Berkeley and felt it on the fifth floor of a new building. About 4.o richter scale, it felt more than that coz it was centered here in Berkeley, Quick jolt and kind of scary, not a rolling quake but a large rock. Hope there are no more after shocks...

WOW! A 4.0 is a pretty strong quake, isn't it? I just read on a news page that the quakes occurred on the Hayward Fault, and that the geologists predict the area is "due" for a strong earthquake. I wonder how they know when a fault is "due"? I hope that there are no more after shocks; enjoy your holidays, and stay safe!

yup, the Hayward fault, i have been living over this side of the bay for 6 years thinking about that now and then. The hayward fault is suppose to be the next big one, but not as many large and dense buildings over here as are in San Fran... just that two big ones, two days in a row... better get some supplies. You know they just got power back in Seattle after about 9 days no power.

I can't imagine living with the stress and anxiety of knowing that the big one could come at any time. Would you really stock up and actually stay there? I guess it's a stupid question, actually. If it's your home, you never know if or when something will happen, so you have to be prepared to get strandede. I pray this is the end of it for you!

California is on the San Andreas fault line which is one of the worlds major earthquake fault lines so it's not surprising to get a lot of earthquakes in California ... I have a friend living in San Diego, California and they have several 'quakes a day ... most of the 'quakes are up to and around 2 on the Richter Scale .. which can hardly be felt ... but they usually have 3's and 4's most months too ...
If a big enough 'quake were to go off along the San Andreas fault line half of California could split off from the mainland and tipple into the sea ...

well, it feels like a car hit your building. or maybe someone picked up your bed from the corner of the floor one inch, and dropped you. then it stops... i turn on the radio and everyone was calling the radio station to say the same thing.
