Does it bother you if you send someone a gift through the mail and never get a thank you from them? I have noticed older people get very upset if they do not receive a thank you from their children or grand children. This does not bother me too much, but I do think it is common curtesy to acknowledge you received the gift.

I think a thank-you card is nice to receive. Or an email, phone call, any means to express your gratitude and to let the other person know you did receive the gift. I don't get upset but I do wonder if they received anything. Since the mail system is not so reliable during the Holidays.

I think that if the person getting the gifts can take the time to buy the gift and send it off, the least the child or grandchild can do is say "Thank you." For me, a card isn't important. Just a simple thank you for the gift will do.

I agree that a thank you is courtesy ,i don't necessarily send a card but i phone to say thank you as soon as i recieve and open it ,if they are not home i email my thanks and phone later.I always get a thank you from children and grandchildren.
