why all these problems in the world?

yesterday, i read a number of posts about terrorism, fundamentalists, why is so much bad stuff going on in the world, so many wars, so much hatred, etc. last night, as i was waiting to fall asleep, i was thinking about something else, i was thinking about my current situation, that i am a little lost at the moment, i don't know how to move forward in my life. and so i started thinking about why. i saw myself in my minds eye, looking confused, with fear of the unknown, with something missing. all of a sudden the 'image' zoomed out so i saw many figures, also looking confused & fearful and then the posts i read came to mind. it seemed to me that this is the reason for the troubles on our planet. to differing extents we are all confused and fearful. in some people, the fear has turned to hate, confusion to dispair. some are easily tricked by others into believing their fear is due to something other than what it really is, tricked into picking up weapons and using them against others, tricked into suicide bomb attacks, etc. some channel their fear into racism, sexism, etc. some beat their wives or children the list is nearly endless. with all this darkness and negativity in our lives, there is little room left for love. unconditional love. after all, it is far easier to hate those we have become to believe are our enemies, than to love them. so i believe, if we want to resolve the issues that currently face us as a race, we need to start with the individual, with ourselves. if we can work towards understanding and accepting our fears, hates & confusions, if we can accept that we need to be 'fixed', to find the thing that is missing, to eventually become whole, then we can move out of the dark and into the light. imagine if the majority managed to banish fear from their hearts, people would no longer have a need to cause trouble for others. i am interested to know what you think
