I think he is still alive and leaving somewhere in the world.Its been too long for america to catch him.Because of the war in afghanstan whole terrorism started and i think america is not able to catch him because of his smartness.What you said can also be right.

I think you do have your point which it might just a cover for some peoples but I think with or without the life name of this osama those intended activities still carry on..
