How Can You tell that You have found Your Divine Mate?

At one point, I was truly terrified by the thought of having to be confident that I've made the right choice about the Man in my life and didn't choose a cooko bird. But I found peace as God began to speak to me and tell me that He always gives "warning" before destruction, and I just have to practice listening to HIS voice. For those of you, who really feel that you have married your divine mate or on the way to tying the knots, what were the signs or the indications that you had found the one that you wanted to spend the rest of your life with.

Boy, this is a tough question. How do you know? I could ask how can you not know. I htink the most important thing is to get to know the other person. I don't mean on a coupleof dates, but over a long period of time, doing different things. You can't get to know someone if all you ever do is go to the movies together - usually you don't talk much there. Similarly just sitting around and "pashing on" - kissing - isn't going to help either, though it might be fun. You need to communicate - speak to him and let him listen to you. Exchange ideas and thoughts. Listen and speak. Speak and listen. Talk about htings that matter. Do things together that you enjoy - but also do things that he enjoys. See how compatible you are. And lastly, give it time. I don't believe in falling into bed before you even know a person (actually I don't believe in falling into bed until there is a commitment, but then I'm old fashioned). I've been married for 26 years this March, and we knew each other for 2 years as friends before we became closer than just friends. Oh and learn to trust your instincts and follow your heart.

Bunny2 thanks for that though provoking response. Like you, I believe that a true friendship is key to any relationship. I want to be with someone that I enjoy just his presence even if there's no movie to entertain us, we can enjoy each other's conversation or just being there. Thanks so much for that and congratulations on your 26 years of marriage!
