Can TV networks make any new shows that don't get cancelled?

I've gotten into Kidnapped, Windfall, Smiths, and Friday Night Lights. The first three have already gotten the axe, and Friday Night Lights has been dangerously close to being next to be cancelled. All of these shows, in my opinion were very good, but NBC either didn't market them well enough, or started them off in really bad time slots. It seems NBC has had this problem for several years, going back to one of my favories to get cancelled, Freaks and Geeks. Are there any good shows you started watching in the past year, only to see them get cancelled too soon?
