What does a craving feel like

So many of my loved ones tell me I must quit smoking! I am despertaly trying to quit, they just have no Idea what a craving feels like. I have tried cold turkey, I have tried gums and patches. I hate what it is doing to my body. Every time I wake up, I push it for as long as I can, but eventually I smoke that cigarrette. When I don't have a pack, I swear I won't go to the store, but within an hour, I am standing in front of the counter "can I get a pouch of drum." I roll my own ciggarettes, which is a nice ritual that reinforces my addiction. Needing a ciggarette for me, is like needing to go to the bathroom urgently, except worse. I get tense, I feel that nasty burning tightness all through my body. I can't think straight. I can feel my blood pounding out a tattoo in my ears "smoke smoke smoke, SMOKE SMOKE SMOKE", that gets louder and louder until I can't take it any more. the tightness in my chest gets so bad, that I feel like I am suffocating (kind of ironic). I was wondering, how do other people here experience their craving for a ciggarette? is it this bad ? will I ever rid myself?
