Why are MMORPG's so addictive?

Why are Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games so addictives? I am sure that you have heard about this type of game at least once. People play it for hours all days, like it is incorporated in the person's biological necessity. I myself played three different mmorpg's and I got addicted to these three. I wonder why they are so... this way. Any suggestions?
