why do elder men have mustache and beard?

anyone noticed that men from like 40 years old willingly have mustache, or beard connected to mustache. im not claiming that everyone has but most of them. what is the age when they decide to have beard permanently? or maybe im just wrong?

hey, nice observation ... i was just remembering persons here at there 40s, and i found yes they have it,.... but i also dont know why the do it, means 98% people here are having mustache connected to beard, BUT WHY SO ... WHAT COMMON THING MAKES THEM TO HAVE IT?
