Is it true that rich becames richer and poor becomes poorer

In India, the rich are becoming richer, but the poor are also slowly becoming richer too, as the new economic boom brings in more and more wealth to the country. I accept that it still has to percolate across all the segments and areas of the country, but give it time, our economy has started booming only recently and so growth in wealth all over is inevitable.
