I just got a speeding ticket in the mail they just said I was doing 35 in a 25 mi. zone. I had to think about it, It was my car that was ticketed I can't deny it because they took a picture of my car. the ticket said I own 95 dollars. Now reasonly on the news, they say the the cameras are off quite a bit. the lady that got the ticket was at work the time they said she made the ticket. and some times the cameras are not always right. do you realize they are over charging people for tickets because the carmeras could be off. I don't think it's fair. I want to detest my ticket. what do you think I should do.

I know how you feel.Ive gotton a speeding ticket saying I was doing soo and soo speed on soo and soo day.The thing is they sent it like a month later so of course I cant remember if I was doing soo and soo speed on that day.I just paid it .I think unless you have the prove and good memory of where you were that day and you hadnt speeded dont pay it.But other wise it would be best to just pay.Good Luck

I think you should contest that ticket. It isn't fair, if the camera's are not working right. Good luck, and keep us posted on the results.

Yes I agree with you it is really not fair for those who dont commit violation. If only we can reason out that if they dont have proof for violation they should not ticket anybody.

Interesting. I would have to ask if the photo shows a legible license plate that identifies the vehicle belonging to you. Does the photo also clearly show you as the driver? I would also check to see when the radar device was last calibrated. I cant really tell from your description but it sounds like the device is stationary and subject to the elements which could throw off the calibration.

It'll be very hard to prove that you weren't because you have no proof other than your own word and they can have a picture or video to prove that you were speeding.

Sorry to hear you got a ticket. We have the red light cameras too. My mom just got a ticket last week from one of the cameras. The ticket had info to go online and watch her run the light. I checked on it, she definitly ran the light, her ticket was $95 too. OUCH. Can you go online and see if you ran the light?

Yes I think cameras for stop lights might help but speeding ticket cameras thats just too stupid lots of things will mess radar up too it's not very acurate to begin with and you can always have it bounce off other cars trucks garde rails andthing metal over head wires anything and radar dose not know what car it is hitting heck a bird could have flown by faster then your car. I thought that was the job the police do stop speeders I wonder what they doing now........ eatting more doughnuts? Owell good luck it will cost you allot more then 95$ to fight it, should have never paid it then gone to court I guess you can apeal it...

That's good advice. But, what she was saying was that there might be a problem with the cameras. I agree, but I think it's more of a problem with accuracy than with the mechanics of the cameras.

How are the cameras inaccurate? They *are* taking a picture of you, speeding. Just ask them for the photo next time, to prove it.

Because they are inaccurate, the news people investagated it. and found out they are not always right. but the time is incorrect so you know they are not right, don't you think. Happy Holidays!

There's nothing you can really do. They just did away with the cameras where I live since it was so complicated. If the picture is of your car, where they say it was, then it was most likely speeding. I dunno what tactic you could use to get off the hook in court. You'd have to be 100% sure and be able to prove that you weren't speeding.

You can go to court and try to contest it, but it will be up to you to prove that something was wrong with the camera. Were you somewhere else at the time they say the offense occured? Was your car with you? Can you bring statements from witnesses to prove the citation is flawed? If not, you are not going to beat the ticket.

I remember being on that street, I didn't even see camera it was hidden. But camera still could of been wrong. There are making alot of money from these speeding cameras, even tha man that was handling the camera said sometimes their wrong. so city is cleaning up off of people.

They had those cameras where I used to live, but it wasn't for speeding, it was to catch people running red lights. Some lady got a notice in the mail saying she ran a red light, but she was actually in the left turn lane out in the intersection waiting to turn, and I guess it turned red when she went to turn and they said she ran a red light. Which I think that is lame. She took it to court, but I don't know how it played out.

Yes they have alot of cameras for that in our city. But when i seen the newscasters question the pople to provide this they had nothing to say. just a way to get money from people.

I think that if you are going to try fight it you are going to need to get some more information on the accuracy of these cameras... assuming that is your basis for the fact that you want to fight it. I wouldn't just go into court saying that you saw on the news that they are wrong some times. If I was a judge and someone tried to play that card I would order them to pay the fine. Also... was it possible that you were speeding? Do you speed?

I am not sure if they are alway right but I would hope that tehy would have some way to verify that their radar was running correctly. You should take it to court and contest it just to see how it turns out.
