My twin sons had their own language. I remember watching them while they were at play. They would utter some babble to each other and nod their head in acknowledgement. It was not recognizable to the adults, but they knew what they were saying.

You're right, I saw my nephew (8 months old) did it too when she meet her cousin (1 years old). It seem they knew what they were talking about even when there was no sound produce by them. It was so funny wacth them, I guess you know what I mean coz you have twin sons. Thanks for the response :)

I think that babies understand the language of touch and love and innocence. So if you love your baby then it will understand you. Also the baby can make distinction with different touch.Baby can understan its mothers touch.

I can believe this! Sheridan, my 8 month old son, loves babies! Anyone who is his age, or younger he tries to talk to them, by babbling, grunting, smiling, touching, coo'n, ect. he tries to get them to interact back! I thought this was just something he was interested in but now that you brought this topic up...i can really believe hes trying to communicate in his own little language!

saw that too! At first I thought she was full of it, but as it went on, she seemed to really know what she was talking about. I especially liked when she would explain about which reflex triggers the type of sound. Also, I'm a music educator, and from my own research, I've come across many people who have an incredible ear for sounds, including pitch and timbre (the quality of the sound), so I don't think it's an incredible surprise that this woman was able to distinguish the beginning sounds of the cry, or the 'precry'. So cool!
