Blood Donation : good or bad

will you donate blood under critical situations , because i experienced the situation at which my frnd met with an accident but my blood group was different so i was helpless but the other frnds hesitated much even the blood group matched , they have some fears about it . so i thought how many here in Mylot are good enough to do these NOBLE cause of donating Blood not for my frnd( he is alright by gods grace ) but if it happens to you , what would you do ?
