Why do we park in the driveway and drive on the parkway?

Yeah, those things are confusing. I don't why people have decided to name those things in particular.

We dont have parkways here in the UK is it like a main road?
If so I see what you mean it really ught to be the otherway around,

A parkway is another name for a road. Sometimes instead of being named a street like Johnson Street, you can have a street named Johnson Parkway. Usually these are larger more widely used streets.
