Dear Friends, it really gets my goat when Tarot readers charge the earth for a reading, I make only a small charge and I get much more out of it when people tell me I'm right. I do the same with my mediumship, although with that side I give it more freely as its given to me free of charge. It just pisses me off that these money makers just rip people off, and 50% of so called Tarot and Mediums only THINK they can, when in fact they can't, they just like to think they can.

I agree with this. It is "a gift" (not everyone is able to channel or interpret cards or messages or even wants to do this) yet people are not charged what they can afford. I´m not saying you should charge a rich man a thousand euros and a poor man 5 cents, but it is a service after all so a reasonable charge is just that... reasonable. A full time medium needs to make a wage the same as anyone else. However, if a medium is able to help someone who can´t afford to pay, the knowledge that you have brought comfort to someone is probably just as nice and receiving payment from someone else. If you are able to be a medium, it IS mainly about helping others and not mainly about financial concerns. Saying that, reiki tends to be very expensive because the originators wanted people to think it is "worth" that amount. If you give something away for free, people might value it less.

Hello. Let me start by saying I think it is wonderful that all of you use your gift to help other people. I do have problems with charing for readings to ppl who cant afford it... but that is just me... I have the highest respect for all of you...Keep up the good work and maybe you could let me know how I could get a reading with a medium...Thanks so much

I, too, agree that some readers charge way too much for what they do. I am a tarot reader and what I call "a medium in training." But I think Karen put it much better when she said she is developing her mediumship skills. As for my personal readings, I don't actually charge. Money is not even discussed until the reading is over, then the client can pay me whatever they feel the reading is worth to them, or what they can afford. But yes, readers are people too, and they DO need to live. It does seem sad that only people who can afford someone like John Edward or James van Praagh are able to communicate with past loved ones. I also agree with Karen, that once I have cultivated my skills in this area, I will most likely do the same as with my tarot readings. It will be what the person feels is fair or it will be nothing if they cannot afford to pay.

Hi, I also read tarot cards and the pendulum. I do charge for them as I do house parties and have a market stall also. I charge €35.00, i could be an hour or less with a client depending on how much info I get. Im curently trying to develope my mediumship skills and also feel i would give that gift more freely as im ther type of person who has to speak when something comes into my head.im very excited about that side of it actually.there are a LOT of rip off merchants out there, thats for sure.I charge as I have a family and need to feed them, i dont feel i have to justify why i charge. I love feedback and love when i get it right. sometimes its hard to read someone as they block you, they challenge you and make it very hard to help them. how long are you doing this?
