Movies / TV serials - a true picture of society...????

Movies and TV programmes are completely unrealistic nowadays. People (in my country at least) used to be grounded and down-to-earth enough to realise the difference between the hype of the media, and the reality of life, but nowadays people seem to be so media-driven and caught up in their little expensive toys, that they're invested enough in that side of things to be carried away and believe the hype. People seem to be a lot more suggestible nowadays, and are convinced that their lives (and who they are as people) would come to an end if all the mobile phones, internet, and TVs stopped working forever! I find this very sad.
