Children enter primary school at the age of 6.Every children must receive 9 years of compulsory education in China.however, some children drop out of school and are educated at home.Their parents teach them at home.Critics say children need to attend school with other children. They also say that some home-schooled children do not get a good education. What about your opinion?

The standard of education they'd receive would depend on how good at teaching their parents are, and how much of the curriculum their parents know! They would miss out on vital aspects of an education and childhood - socialising, and working with others. Social skills, and mixing with others of their age-group, as well as being taught by different teachers with different perspectives, are all very valuable aspects of a child's life. In my opinion, school isn't just about learning the subjects taught - it's about learning life's lessons too, and personal development.

i have to agree. while it may sound convenient, and perhaps, a lot cheaper, to be home-schooled, there is another aspect of education that is now given importance --- a child's emotional quotient, and i think this is best developed when the child is in a school environment, interacting with different kids.

I do not know where you people live, but where I live children do not really get socialization in school. When i went to school, kindergarten was for learning to color and for learning how to get along with other people. Now children in kindergarten are busy learning to read and write and other things. There is no socialization. Even in the cafeteria, the children are controlled and monitored. It is this lack of socialization in school (along with the nonsense about separation of church and state) that is helping to cause so much crime and trouble. I believe in homeschooling. We have homeschooled our children, helping them to know about God instead of evolution.

I was homeschooled in the U.S., and I think my mother did a pretty good job. I went on to college and maintained a 4.0 GPA. I was a little shy, so you might think that I lacked somewhat in socialization, but I know plenty of kids in public schools who are also shy. The quality of homeschooling education depends on the parents and their intelligence and their determination. I've seen good homeschooling parents and bad ones, and the bad ones definitely give the good ones a bad reputation. It may also have something to do with the parents' reasons for homeschooling. The ones who do it for religious reasons tend to focus more on religion than academics, as far as I've seen. My mother chose to homeschool me because she felt that I could get a better education at home than in a public school. In my case, I believe she was right.

I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THAT HOME SCHOOLED CHILDREN DO NOT RECEIVE AS GOOD AN EDUCATION AS CHILDREN IN SCHOOLS. THEY DO NOT RECEIVE AS MUCH INTERACTION WITH CHILDREN THEIR OWN AGE.

I agree with kjscraft, maybe designers of homeschool programs knows about the needs of a child. They know that child needs social interaction too. I can't judge if homeschool program is better than traditiongal schooling because I haven't tried it yet. But, maybe it's good for children too, the only difference is the location where children learns if at home, unlike traditional schools where children will come to the school.

Achild has to be in school for many reasons. A teacher is an outsider and an impartial judge of your child.99% of the teachers are good at their work. They teach the children self reliance and general knowledge. Other children teach them to respect the elders, teachers and older friends. They develop tolerence and not minding minor injuries. They learn the responsibility of carrying their things from home and bringing them back every day.The advantages are many. a child taught by parents at home becomes nothing. The outstanding example are the children of Mahatma Gandhi who is known as the father of the nation in India

i believe that the education a child recieves from home schooling is as good or better than that of a school. Parents know their children better than the teachers do, most of the time, and therefore often know how to teacher them better. The only down side to homeschooling, i believe, is the lack of social interaction that schooled children get. It is important to keep home schooled children active in other social activities so they will know how to behave out in the "real world" and won't be socially retarted. It is also important for parents to not over shelter their child while home schooling because even though they believe it is best for their child then it is overall just hurting them and causing more problems for the future. My brother was homeschooled.

hy, i thinck that in schools children learn's how to behave one with another, they make frend's, they learn one from another and together they learn differnet that they are learning home with their parent's.At school teachers are made to teach them...they know how to learn them step by step...i thinck that school is good for the children.there is the place where they learn to talck one each other and with their teachers, they make competitions one each other and that wei they promote...

A child who is homechooled should be able to have the same education that a child who attends school has, maybe the person homeschooling them is not very qualified to be doing it.

You can debate all ya want, as long as the child is learning at the so called rate of the state ,then ya got nothing to worriy about.now ,if your child or you have a learning problem then thats something different.I do belive that childeren do have to interact..they learn from each other and learn soicial skills.I know a lot of kids that are home schooled and seem to be just fine..and most of them are ahead of there counter parts.

I think that a child can receive a much better education at home. I homeschool my daughter and she's 1 to 2 levels above the grade that she would be in if she went to school. In my opinion she's doing a lot better at home. Brenda Marie http://homeschool4us.blogspot.com/

I fully agree that the home schooled children do not get a good education. The total exposure to the child of the school atmosphere is a must. as schools also teach collective life and children will really learn alot from the group activities.we all have to teach our children on how to live agroup life and look after joys and sorrows of other kids too.

Some home schooled children don't get a good education, some public schooled children don't get a good education and some private schooled children don't get a good education. It depends on the parents and their involvement as well as the child. In any inviroment the child is eager and able to learn and their parents are supportive and has a hand in their education, they will have a great one. That's my 2 cents worth :-)

It depends on who's teaching them. A lot of children who actually go to real school get a horrible education also.

Home schooling can be good, but has a major drawback: the lack of contact with other children and social contacts. School doesn't only teach you to read and write -- and quite a few other things! -- but also how to interect with others. As you may have guessed, I am not in favour of home schooling.

it depends on the teacher and the student's interest. i have to say that students have different field of interst most of the home school based children would choose their own subject to begin with.
