Who will be Next Super Power?

Nice topic. however, I am a Chinese, I do not agree with you on some pionts. I do not think China will be the next super power. We do not want to be, at least, as one of chinese people, I do not want to see this happening.

I don't know if any country will be the one super power in the future but maybe there will be some countries like the ones mentioned-China and Russia, that will come up to the top and be one of a few super powers in the world. All of that aside, I'd like to see peace more than anything else, so my vote goes to the first country that can use a super power influence to make that happen. It hasn't happened yet.

you've done a fairly good job of disguising your rant against america with your "who will be the next superpower" question. but lets address your entire discussion. you stated that america is making wars in the world for no strong reason. what would you define as a strong reason? killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people isn't enough? defying the majority of the rest of the world isn't enough? invading other countries isn't enough? what is? i would love to know what you believe is a strong enough reason. maybe if Saddam were at your door, killing your family, that would be enough. or if Hitler had marched you and yours into a concentration camp to be starved and murdered, that would have been enough for you to see. America stands up for those who can't do so on their own. Do you honestly think we enjoy sending our own men and women over there to fight in a war? America is a country, not simply one man. We are millions, and each and every one of our loved ones mean something. our losses are just as important, but we fight for a higher cause. we accept that there will be loss of life, but if it helps to make Iraq a better country for its citizens, then the loss is rewarded. And you state that Iran is not listening to America? Why do people look at these things like it's just America? Don't you know that the entire civilized world is telling Iran and North Korea to stop the production of nuclear power? The leaders of the world don't want to see another world war, it's why these sanctions are in place. Its why those countries, like America, China, Japan, Russia and other "superpowers" have have halted their production of nuclear weapons. Somehow, America seems to take the front burner in people's eyes during these conflicts. Why is that? People seem to forget that all the members of the UN have voted on and passed these sanctions. But because people like you don't understand America, or how Americans live, or what it's like to stand up for the "little guy", you bash us. And you bash our president, and you bash our way of life. so you can continue to "hate america", and when you need our country, guess what? we'll still be there for you. that's who we are. even when you knock us, degrade us and spread your hate about us, we will still stand up for you when you need us to. we will still be there when you fall, to pick you up. we will still come in and drop food and supplies to you when your own country won't. we will still stand up to those people in the world who want to hurt and rule everyone around them, because that's what America is!

This is a good topic. Yes China is on the rise but i be more concern with Iran because i think they are secretive alliance with Russia. A lot of people think Russia is just another country and sleeping on them. Remember they were onve the Soviet Union. I still say they have a hidden agenda. We couldpossible see a WWIII in our life time. I pray not. But our country (USA) arrogances blind us.

America is on the decline. China is mighty. don't ignore Russia--she is a nuclear power, with a growing number of hungry people. India is on the rise. The European Union is a whole new kind of power. But, no one wants these great nations going into all out war, because no one wants to see the end result of weapons of mass destruction/nukes. The true power is the people of the world, if only they'd recognize it, like a lot of people do. No matter what our nationality, we all want things like freedom, Love, a good income, job satisfaction, an education, a family, to travel, to enjoy nature, etc... We should be working together on International Space exploration programs, curing diseases, building desalination plants, preserving the environment, controlling the population growth, getting everyone who wants it a job, etc... The people are the ultimate power... behind all of the rich families, major corporations, religions, and nations--its people are its life's blood.

The next super power will probably be China. European Union seems also a good candidate. The problem with EU is that it is still politically divided. I think it will probably be India. India is growing a lot in the energy and technology field. its gonna be a big leap for either China or India to make it to a super power since they have such a large population, so many in poverty, and so much of the their economy is based on agriculture.

Normally a super power is economically strong , has a lot of natural resources along with the technology to harness it. The literacy rate is close to perfect and politically stable. In that sense China,India,and couple asian countries ,are probable contenders .

I agree with the topic poster. Bush really had no rights to interfere with other nations though. You can claim and make news all you want but really.. God knows what is his intentions. This year, the Economy of USA generally declined.. the morale... and stuff. China's hitting hard right now. They're on the rise. Probably the next Super Power may be China but not in the near future. It will take quite a lot of time for them to step up, and providing they don't make major mistakes in each steps they take. Well, back to the US. See... USA also have their Nuclear weapon.. we all know that.. why force other nations to succumb to them about this Nuclear stuff... why should we even trust USA that they will never use their Nuclear weapon anyway?

You seem to be a little scared by China's recent progress.I'm from China,and quite familiar with this nation and its people,we just want to lead a more rich and peaceful life,just like you.we are not even a little bit different.we never cosidered to threaten anyone,not to mention another world war.Please be cool.There's chance that China will be more powerful,but there is no chance that it will lead the world to another war.
