was santa clause for real?

from childhood i have been fasinated by santa clause arriving at the christmas eve with gifts and chocolate but still havent got the real version,some say he was a old man who loved childrens and on christmas eve comes with the gifts etc for us, and after his death it remained a way of remembering him and so came this system that people dressed up as santa claus came and cheered up kids
but i would like to have the real version can somebody help me out to understand this if you know the real version

i think that santa clause was real because a lot of stories tell us this thing. i think he was an old man, and very quiet.
