when i hear the word holiday the only thing that comes to my mind is fun and sleep thats all
i have found some information hope you like it
The word holiday has related but different meanings in English-speaking countries. Based on the words holy and day, holidays originally represented special religious days. This word has evolved in general usage to mean any special day of rest (as opposed to regular days of rest such as the weekend).
In much of the English-speaking world a holiday can mean a period spent away from home or business in travel or recreation (e.g. "I'm going on holiday to Malta next week"), the North American equivalent is "vacation". However, many Canadians will use both the terms vacation and holiday interchangeably when referring to a trip away from home or time off work.
In all of the English-speaking world, a holiday is a day set aside by a nation or culture (in some cases, multiple nations and cultures) typically for celebration but sometimes for some other kind of special culture-wide (or national) observance or activity. A holiday can also be a special day on which school and/or offices are closed, such as Labor Day.
When translated from/to other languages, the meanings of the word "holiday" may be conflated with these of "observance" and "celebration".
In paint lingo, can also mean an unintentional gap left on a plated, coated, or painted surface.

But to me Holiday means spending the day lazing around with my hubby and eating at the odd time and sleeping the whole day watching TV.

When i think of holidays, i can remember having fun going to picnics, outings, playing and relaxing and exploring new places. It is a time when you are free to do what you wish and when you wish. Besides it is a time to chat up with friends and enjoy sleeping. Holiday is idea when you don't follow your routine and do things just to pleaser yorself and basically have fun.

Holiday is a special time of the year where we can reflect on the good things that have happened to us and the world and everyone around us. It is a time to be thankful for the things that we have and the people we know. It is a time to share and spend with family or friends. It a time to be happy, though I know that is not the case for many people. That is my opinion of a holiday.
