Would you dare to answer serious discussions about certain issues that would rock emotions of people here in mylot? Don't you agree that these types of discussions would help us understand other people's culture? Would you be willing to be criticized on your subject matters. I know I am willing, and in fact I have been. Would you dare take the challenge of posting such a discussion? Would you dare to respond to these discussions?

Good topic! Yes, I get involved with some pretty flammable discussions; politics, religion, and world peace are the 3 big ones. It's interesting to read these discussions; you can learn a lot about people's cultures and beliefs, but you can also see the hatred and discrimination coming out of individual users. Then it livens it up to challenge them. The only problem is that those are the people who post and then disappear; they don't stay "involved" as the discussion continues. I don't mind being criticized, as long as it's not in a nasty way. And I will respond right back- I'm never afraid to speak my mind. Those are the discussions which make MyLot a great learning experience.

It is very true regarding what you said that mylot will be a great learning experience for all of us. But for people who are closed minded and xenocentric they might find this very disturbing. It would be a firm ground to understand and see other people's criticisms, hatred and discrimination. But this is ok and I am willing to accept their opinions both good and bad. Thank you very much for supporting me on this. MErry Christmas and have a happy new year to you and your family!

yes we should take utmost care while posting replies that deals with emotions of the peoplehere in lylot.i found many people replying to serious matters just for the sake of posting and earning some money.but that should be voided.we are not here only to earn money.but also to have a unity to get views and opinions on various topics that is of utmost importance.therefore we must think properly before poating on any issue that is serious.if we are not confident of giving a valued reply then i think its better to refrain from replying to such topic.thank you

I think we should be confident enough to put whatever we think about the discussion. We have every right to feel and state our opinion on such matters for as long as it is said very objectively. thank you for sharing your thoughts and have a nice day!

I myself have started such discussions . Otherwise ,some truths will not come to light . Having said this , I take care about the presentation and wording of such discussions or responses lest they hurt somebody too deeply and lest further scope of discussions vanishes .

It really isn't in my nature to criticize, I offer my opinions, but I try to stay neutral in certain matters that I don't know much about. On the other hand, if it deals with me personally, then oh hell yes, I will definately respond. I would never start a discussion that would deal with matters that would interfer or criticize anyones culture.

It may be not in your nature to criticize, but once you have offered your opinions and took a side, others may look at it in a different way. One can never be neutral when you offer your opinions on each side. If you would rather be neutral then I guess you should not bother saying a sentence on these discussions because it will break your neutrality.

Thank you for that. And I hope you would participate in these discussions. Your opinions will be well appreciated and don't mind if you either agree or disagree. There are a lot of us here who are very open to criticisms because we have an open mind to these things. Merry Christmas and have a happy new year!

Yes, I am not afraid to give my opinion and have the facts explained to me until I understand. I do not mind being told I am wrong if there is more to learn as when we see the whole picture then we can make a better judgement. I remember when I hadn't been here long a discussion about hunting deer which I thought was cruel. When explained that the deer had been introduced to the rain forrest by the governemnt and were destroying the delicate balance and so affecting other rare creatures I could see the point of the hunt. The deer were put into the food chain and used to feed the local families and as the numbers were controlled the hunt help limit damage to local vegetation.

Sometimes. But at other times, my head gets spinning so full of response that I'd have replied a novel full of thoughts! And my fingers just can't keep up with that. So, I get picky about what I'll respond to because sometimes I just don't have the energy! Aloha!

I don't like to hurt people or have confrontations. I say the truth, but I do skip some of the postings that are heated.

Heck ya, that's why I'm here. If I can't discuss serious things, I don't care how much they pay, I would lose interest. I have learned so much from myLot that does not show up as money in my account.

why not, as long as the discussion makes sense and doesnt become a battleground!!!
• Philippines
26 Dec 06
The discussion would definitely make sense if there will be arguments raised. It would not be a good discussion if everyone just said yes to all the things and other people say. Anyway thank you for your thoughts.

What makes sense to one person does not necessarily have to make sense to you. Just because something does not make sense to you does not make it false, or not with learning from. At least this is my opinion. For me if it does not make sense this does not devalue the argument, rather it means I still need to understand it. I am of the opinion that nothing is objectively nonsense. Thus if it does not make sense it is not wrong it simply needs to be understood. So, yes I would partake in such discussions as it is my task to understand them all. Even if it is a battleground this is all the more reason for me to stop, observe, ponder, and possibly partake so as to acquire understanding. I also believe it is possible to be neutral in such discussions. You simply don’t say what your opinion is, or you don’t form an opinion. Then you step back look at both sides, and you can discuss the issue from both sides. Doing this bothers a lot of people they want you to choose a side because they think you are a cowered trying to play both sides. But, this isn’t true if both sides are equally right, even though they might seem to contradict.

Buddy its not about someone who is daring or not Discussions are such , that there maybe some who might love it while the others may be offended That all depends People here are free to write and to post their thoughts You have t face facts in life, so yes atleast i do dare to discuss about such matters But do you dare to start them?
• Philippines
26 Dec 06
Thank you for your thoughts. And, to answer your question regarding me to dare to start such discussions, yes I have started and will continue to do so. I even have been criticized very much to the point that even in the picture in my avatar was insulted. I do not mind this and I am actually flattered. It means that they are very much into the discussion and express their true feelings on the matter.

I thought that's what we were already doing. Some start or respond to discussions not so serious as well.

Some just answer the easy discussions such as what is the color of your eyes.

I think the internet is a good place to bring discussions like this up since both parties are anonymous and they can both walk away. If you disagree with someone you simply ignore them. It can't escalate into a fight or anything.

Yes I do also agree that this could be a common ground to hear the thoughts of other people on these critical topics of discussion. However they react to my discussions, I really don't mind. I just want to hear and know how they feel and think about these things. It would help us understand why they think that way. Thank you for your responses and have a nice day!

I like serious discussions. Even if we are sometimes upset by waht is said, how can we find the truth about something without an open discussion?
• Philippines
26 Dec 06
That is very true that if we do not get these kinds of reactions, we cannot find the truth on how other people feel and think regarding these serious matters of discussions.

I think the tough questions, the ones that make you think before you answer or the best question. Questions that really make you take a moment to think. I am not afraid to ask or answer questions such as these. I say bring them on.

That's so nice to hear that you are willing to answer them. I think that it is very educating to know how other people think and feel on certain issues. Thank you for your response and have a nice day!
