Did anyone see last year's Eurovision? Finland won with the band LORDI. They were actually quite good. I think the voting has become very political. People of one country vote for their neighbouring country's song. ut in one way that is understandable because neighbouring countries will generally like each others' songs, melodies etc. I have looked at it every year and really enjoy it. I think most years the best song wins.

You say that it's only a recent trend that voting has become political!? Ah you naive Eurovision-er - voting has ALWAYS been completely political, but last year's Lordi entry for Finland was just too magnificent to be affected by the political voting, and rose triumphantly to the winning place. If you're unaware of the blatent politicking which is the foundation of Eurovision, you ought to tune into the BBC's coverage of the competition - Terry Wogan (who always does the commentaries for the BBC's coverage of the Eurovision, and in Britain as well as in many other countries, is as much an institution as the competition itself) always talks about that aspect of it, with his wonderfully irreverant sense of humour. Quite often, the reason for neighbouring countries' voting for each other, is because people from both sides of the border will pop across to the neighbouring country and vote loads of times for their own song, from that neighbouring country! It's just a part of Eurovision, and is all part of the fun. I'm sure this year's will be as good and bad as always!

They resembled KISS with all that make up, but it surely was entertaining. I wasn't sure of what the public reaction would be, but it's nice to see judges appreciating different things. Eurovision is political for almost as long as I can remember. Let's hope this year music does the talking.
