Need your opinion about Arranged Marriage

Recentely my friend is going to marry.He is looking for a girl,but he is confused lot.Because in Indian tradition love marriages are not yet welcome.He asked me for the same "even I like a girl,how would I know about her nature,character etc.etc..."I tried to answer him but i was also speechless...So I need your opinion about Arranged Marriage.
