A money earner for the rich, or a cruel sport?

Years ago, when I was 20, I filled in time between jobs by working as a ghillie on a Scottish Highland estate. It meant carrying the rifles for those who could afford the astronomical fees to shoot there, then carrying the carcasses (the deer, not the gentry!)to the nearest road. A stag up on the hill was a magnificent sight, but it was tragic to see them being shot, especially if the first bullet didn't kill them outright. The head gamekeeper would have to go and put them out of their misery. Do others think that it's cruel, and should be stopped, or should those with enough money be allowed to do it for their own gratification?
