I find the ebay banners at the top of the screen to be distracting

Have you noticed that each page you look on at mylot.com is a banner for an ebay item that is in your lists of favorite items.
I am getting tired of reading how much Rain Man will cost at ebay and how many days it will be available, or Gilbert Grape or the soundtrack to Boogie Nights.
Do you like this type of advertising that seems to be catered to each member's profile page?
Is this the wave of the future, to target us everywhere? Who is not a member of ebay?
I wonder what those who have not made any lists actually see for the banner? Can anyone share what they see as the banner at the top of the screen?

I do not mind that there is a banner at the top of the screen as this is probably a way for them to make money to pay us for our comments and discussions. Sometimes I see something that interests me and will check it out. I am not a member of Ebay as I have never purchased or sold anything on that site.

Its reallyirritating to find the e-bay banner on the top of page. It is appearing a lot before the original page ,hence wehave to stare at it for a long time though we dont want to.
But i have noticed that these are onlyfrom the interests that we have added into mylot, so tis not that bad also.

i have but I don't see anyhting wrong with that simply I think that its one of the ways mylot would be earning revenure for itself and thus keeping its financial strong..and thats necessary for many of us who depend on mylot for a little bit extra..so just taki it within ur strides normally..

Personally i dont like it. but since they exist and they are expanding that means the strategy is working and they are making hell lot of money. Its like tele sales you disturb hundreds in a day but you get 2 customers.

it gets annoying when it's the same few products for each interest, and some adverts appear to be radomly sellected items on ebay with no connection to my list.
Did anybody else get adverts for annother site for a few days?

Yeah I agree with you. They post up stuff I already have, which is really annoying. It is trying to get me to buy things I already have. I wonder if myLot can figure out a way not to put that at the top in big banner. Maybe that can make a small one next to the search bar.

I get plants tuff and things on that nature at the top of mine but it doesn't bother me because I know mylot needs to be making money one way or another to pay us soooo no biggie I'm even thinking about buying a couple of the plants I've seen up there. Can probably start another forum somewhere if you want with no banners and ummm no pay if you would like.

I think it is pretty darn brilliant. I went to Tulane University and I filled Tulane in as an interest on my Mylot profile. Well, what do you know, my ebay banners have to do with Tulane.
Change your mylot profile a bit and see what comes up. I think it is a great idea for mylot. But, you're right, it is distracting.
I try to have fun with it and find myself checking out the auctions quite a bit.

It is the way to earn money. Mylot gets payed from them in order to pay us. So try to get annoyed less.

I Love the Ebay banners! I must admit I have a business reason behind it. I'm a fulltime Ebay seller, and the more exposure Ebay has the better!

I really don't mind seeing the banners. I tend to ignore them.

Actually on a site like this you have to get used to the banners. Just grin and bear it. It's how they make their money. The alternative is we pay them instead of they pay us and I don't think any of us would like that much...Also, as long as the banners target your interests, there is a chance of finding something you've been looking for. (Maybe Not....I listed asparagus as a favorite food and got a banner for a ceramic bowl with a green glaze called "Asparagus"...LOL)
