I would have to say manga because from my years of reading and watching both versions of the same series the mangakast has more freedom to show his/her vision while the director is limited to what the company wents to spend and how long the show should be.
One example I can say if Tsukihime, when you watch the anime while it features beautiful music, scenery, a good story, etc the manga showscases the fights especially the main fight between the 1st main bad vampire, Nero where in the anime it takes only half an episode with no real hitting between the characters as you see the character start a montion, the camera turns away, and you hear the aftermath of the attack. In the manga you see every blow by blow and see what each character powers truly are.

For me, it is a time issue. If I want to breeze through something, I will probably go for the manga rather than the anime. On the other hand, nothing beats watching a fight from an anime. That's something manga can't ever match. I just like them both :(

I dunno, I like being able to imagine the fight my own way, but yeah, it is pretty sweet to see the fights in action.

I say that I preffer anime because I am not the type to sit down and read :D. I guess I'm too full of energy and can't stand to read 20 pages to see one action scene. So watching the action is very nice and not as boring. For example now I've started watching Full Metal Alchemist (because most people here seem crazy about it :P), and I can't imagine that action described in a manga. It takes too much time to read, and sometimes that's a disadvantage. I'm sure that some of the aspects in manga are left out or completely modyfied in the anime series, but i think it's all for the better comprehension and for taking out the boring parts. It's just my opinion :)

i am one of the Anime nuts...
manga, yes, it is a graphic novel,
a graphic novel produced by tokyopop.
i like reading mangas, really.
i also love watching anime shows
but i think anime and manga is
the same because anime is based on
manga. i can't decide which is better
but for me, manga and anime is the same.
the only differences are:
1. in manga, you will know the full names of the characters, and the correct spelling of it, too. while in anime shows, sometimes you don't get it, right? be honest..
2.anime shows the special and cool fight scenes and effects of the powers of the main character/s which is that in manga, it's steady and just a picture.

I prefer manga as well. If I'm reading I can really stop and appreciate the artwork and talent involved more then I can if it's flashing by on a television screen.

It really depend. Sometime manga is different than anime. Sometime, they are pretty much the same. It also counts whether you like taking your time reading or not. I know someone who never read manga because he hated reading. And my opinion is, I don't like either better, although I do watch anime more than manga. I wonder why some people find some voice acting annoying though. Out of all the anime I've seen, I never hated any voice acting. In fact, I like a lot of them.
Also, sometime the anime's art is better, or it could be the opposite. The first example would be The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. The animation in that anime was great, but wow, when I looked at the manga, I honestly can't find anyway how they are both the same series. And the latter example would be something like Full Moon.
It also depend on the animation. I seen a lot of anime from Kyoto Animation that are absolutely awesome! Like The Mechancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Air TV, and Kanon (2006). Check out Kanon (2006) and Kanon and see their differences. (Kanon is produced by Toei Animation)

First of all, i never read manga then watch anime, second of all manga is pretty much diferent from the anime. I like them both, but because i'm to lazy i prefer anime. I could read manga if i wouldn't fall asleap at it (no ofense i fall asleap at any book or comic i read). In manga is not the same action, the voices, the same magic.
