this year was especially fruitful for me financially..
i went a bit overboard on christmas presents for my daughter as well..
after she finally opened both her cell phone and i pod she looked at me and asked if there was any more..
my heart broke in a million pieces..
i know i have taught her what christmas was about..
any thoughts?

If that were me i'd be grateful, there are so many families that struggle everyday to even feed themselves, never mind buy presents.
And i'd rather have all my family together at Christmas anyday, but than again i do have everything i need so that's why i don't mind how much or little i receive.
Maybe once a few days have passed your daughter will really appreciate your presents..:)

as a single parent i agree it is a struggle sometimes..
i talked things over with my daughter and we have decided to volunteer at the local mission for the bevening meal once a week..
i am hoping this will help her put things into perspective..
thanks for the nice response!
happy new year!

First of all, how old is your daughter? If that was my daughter I would have asked her, "do you realize how much these cost??". That was a really selfish comment for her to make, not to mention that it made you feel so horrible. She should be thankful for what she has and those are extremely nice gifts!

thanks for your input..
as of 01.02.07 i am committing both of us to helping at the local missions evening meal..
i believe this will be a real eye opener for my daughter.
btw she is 12..
we will be doing this once a week..
i am hoping this will be the shot of reality that she needs to put things in perspective..
have a wonderful new year!
