Flash drives are best to use because of its portability. But as a storage I recommend that you make backup in CDs because flash drives can get corrupted if not handled properly. This is the most common issue with most storage devices. Corruption happens when there is an interruption while the device does a process. For example, removing the flash drive while copying files to it. This can cause corruption which makes the device unaccessible which means that you can't also access the data stored in it. All electronic devices need to be handled properly to prevent malfunction and if you take good care of your flash drive then it will last for about 2 to 5 years depending on its quality. It its branded, then much better... =)

USB Flash drives are very popular now, and is very difficult to do without. But just keep in mind an incident that happened to me. Most computers have a USB port in front to accomodate removable USB equipment like a drive etc.
I once stored data in a USB drive and forgot to remove it from the computer in the office. When I was away someone has knocked on that and it got bent and badly dented. I could never recover the data.

Don't rely on it. Because it is easily gets damaged with the viruses and become useless. It happened with two of my Drives that got damaged with the virus. And also it can be damaged physically. So don't rely on it just put your temporary data on it.

I use a USB Flash Drive pretty often as it is much more convenient to use than a floppy disk and more portable. I always tell my students about it, especially if they do not have a floppy drive on their computer or do not have a cd burner to copy important information or programs.
