One world language? One world currency?

The introduction of the Euro has standardised currency in the EU. Is there anything to gain from standardising a world wide currency? Or will it showcase how different pricing is from country to country? What about a global language? Is there anything to gain from trying to introduce a standardised language internationally?

God help us! As long as it wasn't headed by Bush! Maybe the United Nations in a round about way has assumed that role already?
