"Setting up a 7000 mile motorcycle ride"

I am 60 years old and my greatest wish it to ride around 7000 or more miles around the Us the summer of 2007 or 2008. There are many constraints to such and indeavor, but I think the major ones are 1) Planning the Route to obtain maximum value of what I see 2) How do I determine what the cost will be - I am on a fixed income I have to do it with minimum cost i.e. such as camping out every night or staying with aquaintences 3)Maybe finding some good people to ride with me all or part of the way 4) How will I physically hold up to such a trip and how many miles a day should I expect in the real world 5) And everything I haven't already thought of. If any of you already know how to set up such a trip, know someone whom has the answers or know of some good web sites that will help me set up this trip, please jump in and help me plan this trip of my life.
