I think the most under reported story of 2006 is anything talking about the good things we have done in Iraq. Or anything about how the soldiers who are there really feel. I know that the soldiers they let speak on camera are prepped on what they can and cannot say because they will not allow any soldier to come on camera and say that they think being in Iraq is a waste of time and that they would like nothing more than to come home and they don't feel like they are doing anything lasting there. I have talked to many soldiers about what they really think about Iraq and not one of them said any of the fake stuff they show on the news. Each one of them said we're wasting our time there because all of our efforts will be undone once we leave the country.
What do you think?

I hope they come home soon, and I'm afraid they may institute a draft. There's been plenty of talk about that on both sides of the aisle.
Fact is, we screwed up. Now, I for one have been against this war from the beginning, but for arguments sake let's forget intention. The fact is, we had no strategy. During the Clinton administration wargame excercises determined we would need a military 3 times the current size of our forces their to occupy Iraq, and even then they determined they would not achieve any kind of desired end result.
Saddam Hussein was a demon, but he kept control of a very fractured country. We opened Pandora's jar.

There are obviously a lot of good things done in Iraq but I do not think that they are going to discuss them. All the news media want to give us is the conflict that is happening. They should concentrate thier efforts in broadcasting the good changes that Iraq been given to help moral plus more about the people that are trying to run the country and thier efforts.

What world are you from? The media makes it look like a picnic compared to what's really going on there. Has everyone also forgotten that we're occupying neighboring Afghanistan? Does anyone realize we don't have the manpower for this, and what about the fact that we violated international treaty to invade in the first place?
