Is animal testing wrong?

Should people do experiments on animals? Every year animals are subjected to experiments so painful and damaging that no one would ever do them on humans. On the other hand, these experiments are done so that humans and sometime animals will suffer less in the future.
So, what's your view: should animal testing be banned, or should it be allowed?

i hate it very very very much! animal testing is really unnecessary, more than 90% of products (i peak about medicine because cossmetic are always unnecessary)that pass animal testing have problem with human testing: it's crazy!
i was an animalist (thanks to italian organization: LAV.org, animalisti italiani)
also on my blog i speak about animal rights!
