Many animals have some form of expression, although you yourself are also looking for that expression so you'll pick up the faintest signals be it what their thinking or not.
My dog expressed 'shame' when he let off, maybe because they always stank and we'd all start choking. You could tell, if he had got up looking guilty towards you and scantered off, you'd know to expect the incomming smell!

Thank you for starting this discussion with me.I boo-booed when I said my dog says "I want on" I meant to say "I want one" meaning a biscuit. Every morning since he's been a puppy,we trained him to say those things. He really gets emotional and some days he says it clearer than other days, depending on how he's feeling ,I guess. He will not let us forget his biscuit in the mornings...oh yes,at night after supper too...We really need to make sure he gets to play with his ball,to get the exercise,he was putting on weight. also ,,he dosn't let off gas as much when he's not overweight. heheh.

My pets cant talk but my dog sings, when she hears you coming near the door she sings and sings until you pick her up. She then has a mad 5minutes where she runs back and forth the room grabbing any teddys in her way and throwing them into the air to catch them...im sure she thinks shes a cat!

We taught our dog to sing and he could copy a high note or a low note. The trouble was that he didn't think it 'dog-like' and used to get quite upset with us and embarrassed for making him do such tricks.
There are some amazing films on YouTube of animals that 'talk'. I'm not sure that they always really understand what they are saying: they are really just responding to a particular stimulus (but then more human conversation than we realise is like that!)

It's hard to tell...but I know that my dog knows that if he says he wants one...he always gets his treat...so it 's probably association..sit up and talk/and get treat.
I love to watch the shows on animals...they are so eager to please..and love unconditionally...

I have an albino rabbit that says "Fear me for I shall unleash a flood of pickles and you will soon know the meaning of irony."
