yes i agree wih you,rating people for their responses really encourage them on mylot.
they tend to post more discussions and it makes mylot interesting.
they also get to know more about their writng skills.we should always rate them!!!!!!!!

It is interesting that you rate everyone who responds to your discussions. It does say in the guidelines that you should only rate those who merit it (well, maybe not those exact words) but in general you give a positive (+) rating to those who add to the discussion and a negative (-) to those who spam, make an inappropriate response or something like. Of course the best response goes to the one which is that, i.e. best response, and it doesn't necessarily have to agree with what you think and/or feel. I do rate my discussions but DO NOT rate every person who responds, as I believe that devalues the advantages of the rating system.
Yes, rating any response does affect their earnings, so for a best response or a positive (+) that person will get a little extra money whilst anyone who scores a (-) will earn a little less for that particular response. So, in answer to your question, yes it does help the responses that you do rate.
Similarly you can rate a discussion started by anyone else and any response, irrespective of who starts the discussion. In addition, we are now able to rate the photos and images which are uploaded here to myLot.

yup it does help them because it will increase their rating thus increasing their payment for points
actuall i was a little sceptical bout answering this cos it may look like i was lookin for points but i was helpin
