I somewhat agree with what you say Shilpa, but I would like to add something. The boundaries between different areas of chemical engineering are disappearing fast so instead of particular area becoming the next big thing in chemical engineering, it would be some application like biorefinery , which combines all the options you have mentioned, will be the hot thing tomorrow.

I dont know much about chemical engeneering. But I know that the chemical and the biological worlds are intimately related, and the scope in this area is immense, so i'd say theBiochemical feild.

Iagree with pushkar.. specilisation is not what industries required.. application is what matters

i think computational fluid mechanics is going to rule and dominate other spheres of chemical engineeering in the next decade .And as far as application goes computational fluid dyanamics has the greatest potential .

I am a graduate of Chemical Engineering. I had my refresher course last october and then took the board exam last november 2006, but unfortunately, I didn't pass. Well, chemical engineering is really a difficult profession. If you're applying for an entry-level job for this field, you should choose as a QA analyst/assistant.
I think its Biochem eng'g also because it involves processesing of raw materials into new and useful products.
