Does advertising inspire you to buy?

Do you believe that advertising on TV, Internet, Newspapers, Magazines etc. affects you and you buy things based on advertising?

Sometimes, because I have seen many things on tv and then I went out to but them. A perfect example are toys for kids, when your child sees them they want them and then in the long run you end up buying it for them!
