Management of roses?

I am having a lot of problem keeeping roses. They are really beautiful and irrisistable for any person owing a garde to keep . But i feel they are really cumbersome to maintain. Whenever i get some new ones they flower only once and they never seem to bloom again, whatever is done.
Can anyone suggest me a few tips as to how to grow roses well so that they flower nicely.

Yes they are a lot of work, but oh so beautiful! I have only 4 rose bushes and one is dying. I work with my roses all year and it is so worth it when they bloom. They make me smile and they look so beautiful to the eye. None of my roses have grown tall or bushy so I am not sure if it is because of my location or if I am doing something wrong. I do get many blooms from them all the way up until the first frost.
