My vote for the most remarkable sports event in 2006 is Lance Armstrong's 7th straight victory in the Tour de France bicycle race. He showed great courage and came from behind a couple of times but kept in there and rode on to victory. While there is some debate as to whether he used illegal substances I think it only fair to give him the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.
