Holding puppies After Birth?

Puppies shouldn't be touched and held from birth right? My dog had a litter of four puppies. She killed all but one. I took that one in and begin feed it with a bottle and I want to know if that was something wise to do. I have feed the puppy only briefly the eyes and ears are not open yet. I think it is going to die.
