I highly recommend Elsi's.. located on Burnet Road. Soooo goood. Best salsa ever, great breakfast, and it features Tex-Mex and El Salvadorian food as well as traditional Mexican. I recently moved from Austin, and I desperately miss Elsi's... especially the taco salad, made vegetarian...

I'll have to try it out. I've never been there. Where on Burnet is it?

I'm not sure the cross street exactly. We lived off 53rd, so we would drive north from there, it's not too far... it's located in a small strip of stores, next to an antique shop. If you're coming north from 53rd it's on the right. I'll have to ask my husband the cross street and get back to you, but i'm sure the address is in the phone book. It's so good... you'll have to let me know if you liked it! I spent a lot of time in Guatemala a few years ago... one of my favorite things to eat were 'pupusas', stuffed corn cakes filled with cheese, mushrooms, and other ingrediants and served with cold tomato sauce and pickled cabbage. Maybe it's an acquired taste, but Elsi's has them so I was thrilled to be able to eat them in the states. Real traditional El Salvadorian food! Wonderful black beans and plantains as well...

Lol thats funny. There is no such thing as a good Mexican resturant in Austin. You need to come to San Antonio for good Mexican food. For a good homemade Taco go to Henrys Tacos on Nogalitos if your ever in San Antonio during the week. whats cool about it is that you actually see the ladies make the tortillas right in front of you.
