I've seen female avatars on myLot and when I click thru to their profile the person is a male. Is there something wrong that you cant make a true representation of yourself? I've seen three so far and I am sure there are more. Are these people gay? What is the problem?

I agree this can be so confusing. Sometimes I start to reply and then realize that I'm replying to a male not a female, or I double check because it's not always clear. This is especially true if you're replying about personal problems. One time I thought it was about a gay couple because of the avatar!

I was just thinking that maybe it was someone that was close to them (like a gf or something). I sometimes put males on my avatar (like Huey off the boondocks, or Nas just because I've been groovin to a lot of his music, and I was thinking about putting Biggie's picture in my avatar - I change my avatar when the mood strikes me... sometimes a shoe that I'm feeling, sometimes Nas, sometimes just my picture like it is today). Who knows?

Yeah I have used a walking skeleton before and I have used a laptop as my avatar but what I have a problem with is - why would I use a female as my avatar so people think that I am a female? I just saw another one.

well I guess that i was incorrect in putting any males in my avatar. i had no idea, i guess i'll be putting only female artists, etc from now on. my mistake...

I don't know. I have no problem if it is a celebrity but if you put up say your bf or husband it may be a misrepresentation of yourself. Like Nas is ok, or Biggie but not the guy that you are missing.

I have to agree that a person should use an avatar that is the same gender as they are so it is less confusing, the exception being something that has no gender.

Of course. I have used a laptop before so you could not mistake me for a female and you had to get a clue that I was male or view my profile to be sure. But these guys are clearly making themselves look like they are girls and it is confusing to other users.

I was thinkin the same thing too for a while but when I started to think that they were females it became an issue. I just dont think they should be doing it. You should make a representation of oneself. Well I guess i cant really give you wrong for using your son's pic. I think there is a difference.

I know it looks wrong. Maybe some people here are maybe like shy to show who they really are? I think.

They could use an object like I used to use a laptop, and a walking skeleton (a MALE walking skeleton that is). I still dont use my own picture as my avatar but I have a pic of me in my profile.

My first thought was that they were nothing more than dishonest males trying to get attention. I've seen a lot of them around & it annoys the heck out of me, because they come across to me as liars. Another thought is the possibility that some of the non-English speaking people just didn't understand the male/female selection. I can't remember from when I signed up, but I think I remember having to actually select male or female. If they didn't use some kind of translator, they probably selected the first choice. However, I also think I might just be giving too much benefit of doubt to some of these people. There is also (I think someone had mentioned this in one of their responses.) that the avatar could be a picture of their girlfriend or someone they might even look up to. Furthermore, when responding to a male or female's discussion, people, incuding me, tend to word things differently to males & females, & that can cause a response that is not as accurate as it should be.

i also noticed this phenomenon too. many male of mylotter using female picture to be their avatar. its a little bit strange for me too. coz the thing that i know male more like icon which show their personality or hobbies and dont like to seem feminine. so what the reason of male in mylot using female picture as their avatar?

I agree, I have even caught people writing discussions and have looked at their profile and found their discussions on sad things to be a lie, because they are a male like 20 talking about having a son of 10 who is sick and dying now how crazy is that? I think people should be straight up about age and gender.

Haha... Are you serious? I know that goes on. Its funny. But for real they need to quit being dishonest man. We need to have an honest community. I don't want myLot to feel divided. we should all be one. I mean the friends on my list are some of your friends and so on. Many of them are not really friends as I hardly know any of them but I do go through some of my friends questions and answer a few. Sometimes I message them or leave comments on their profile. They do the same for me. I want that type of spirit on myLot so why cant these people just be honest.

Look Male use female avtars on their Mylot profile might be to attract other member or they like to place female avtar. There is no harm in it. I have found in some cases female put male avtar or many a time they does not disclose whether they are male or female. What we can do in this case? It is upto ones choice.

They were mischievous people who wanted to prepare you by putting forward the photograph avatar was the woman, and this happened not only in mylot in fact in site friendster there are those that did like that, and that was surprised by me why they carried him out? The obsession to the photograph of the girl that he put forward or what?

Well, what can be the problem you can easily understand. This is not here in mylot, i have seen in many sites, email ids, etc etc. I guess they like to be imagined the feminine part of their life.

Nothing wrong with acknowledging the female part of yourself. It's just not fit for avatars. Well only if that confuses them. I saw one this morning and there was a caption above the profile saying "My favorite actress". Ok. Nice. But shouldn't he have put that in the PICTURE section of his profile?

I'm a girl and I've got a man in my avatar simply because it's Jon Bon Jovi and I love him. But I've been writing it all over the place for everybody to see, so it's not such a secret. ;)
